Your canoe leg starts after we drop you off at Murray Campsite on the Bibbulmun track close to the Murray River. From here the Murray River winds its way through Lane Poole Reserve and the Murray River valley. You will encounter some small rapids, narrow fast-moving channels and wide-open pools surrounded by forest-lined riverbanks. As an independent, non-vehicle based traveller you can discover your own campsite although it is recommended you pre-book (not included in tour cost) a designated campsite at Yarragil via Yarragil Campground | Explore Parks WA | Parks and Wildlife Service (dpaw.wa.gov.au). Downstream from Yarragil campsite you enter the more popular section which includes passing a number of popular riverside camp spots. You will also encounter the featured Grade 2 rapid at Island Pool. Past Island pool the river reverts to long pools, fast-moving channels and a couple of small rapids. You carry your canoe over the road at Bobs Crossing for your last short leg to arrive at Baden Powel Water Spout (Dwaarlindjirraap) at 3pm where Dwellingup Adventures staff meet you and return you and your equipment back to Dwellingup.
Your party arrives at Dwellingup Adventures and Waypoints Café, situated in the Dwellingup Trails and Visitors Centre at 9am. Customer toilets, showers, lockers and laundromat are available at the Centre. When you arrive we complete the paperwork for the tour and you pay. We allow you time to complete preparations in regard to waterproofing and storage of equipment in your selected canoe. Please see (link here) for extra hire equipment.
Once you are prepared you leave your vehicle in Dwellingup and we transport your party along with all your gear and canoe to Murray campsite. The canoe distance is 22kms. Most people usually canoe about 12kms day one and about 10kms day two depending on where you choose to camp.
One, two or three person canoe complete with paddles, buoyancy vests, water sport helmets and laminated river maps. We also pay the entry fees into Lane Poole Reserve.
